This site provides a portal to the primary standards and specifications that relate to SOA and service-orientation.

Any of the specifications referenced in the Prentice Hall Service-Oriented Computing Series from Thomas Erl or
the SOA Certified Professional (SOACP) curriculum are represented on this site.

|
What this site also helps highlight is the diversity of standards and technologies that SOA practitioners can now choose from when building services and service-oriented solutions.
As originally explained in the SOA Design Patterns book and the
SOA Patterns and Application Technologies page on SOAPatterns.org, service-orientation
(and related principles, patterns and practices) can be applied to different implementation mediums for distributed systems. Regardless of the underlying technology, it is the meaningful
application of the service-orientation paradigm that shapes software programs into units of service-oriented logic that can be legitimately considered services.

When exploring these specifications, it's important to keep in mind that their maturity and industry support can vary dramatically. As a result, some links may become invalid at any
time and without notice.
